Listowel folk treat people well

Dear Editor:

This letter is later than it should be, due to the fact that I’ve just returned home, following time spent keeping appointments and visiting with family and friends.

On Sept. 23, I had a luncheon date with old friends in Listowel. We get together twice yearly and those visits mean a great deal to me. Prior to meeting them, I stopped at Shoppers Drug Mart for needed items. When I came out of the store, it was to find the right rear tire of my pick-up truck as flat as a pancake.

I did not have a phone with me and went back into Shoppers for assistance. There, two employees, Lianne and Sara, assisted me in making calls to CAA and to my friends who were waiting at the restaurant, and Stop 23 to let them know about the tire.

With assistance from all concerned: Lianne, Sara, my friends, CAA and Stop 23, I was able to enjoy lunch and an afternoon visit with old friends. What impressed me even more than the service was the attitude in which the service was rendered: it could not have been more efficient or courteous.

At a time when we hear so much about people that is negative, I can only say that the opinion I formed while working for over 40 years at The Listowel Banner holds true. Listowel truly is a community of people who take pride in their work, who treat people fairly and with compassion. It is always a pleasure to return.

Marion Duke,

Sundridge
