Elizabeth Jane (Hall) Newman passed away peacefully at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton on the evening of Wednesday, September 10, 2025, in her 97th year. Beth’s family had the opportunity to say goodbye during the days leading up to her passing.
Beth was born in Owen Sound, Ontario on May 10, 1929 and spent her childhood in Tara, Ontario.
She was predeceased by the love of her life, Clifford Newman, as well as her parents James & Olive Hall, and great-granddaughter Sophia Marie.
Beth loved her family; John & Barb (Bitton) Newman of Point Clark, Jim & Nancy (Jones) Newman of Kincardine, Ted & Shelley (Lawrence) Newman of Milverton, and Paul & Janice (Borer) Newman of Golden Lake. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by her grandchildren Chris, Chad, Becky, Jamie, Josh, Kala, Brendon, Kale, Kirstie, Sarah and Michael at Thanksgiving, Christmas and the many Family Reunions in Millbank and Harriston. Beth was very proud of her status as Great-grandmother to her 14 great-grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her siblings-in-law Mel & Evelyn Newman of Edmonton, AB, Marilyn Schmidt of Kitchener, and Marjorie Newman of Harriston.
Music was a major part of Beth’s life and she would often be at the piano playing for Cliff’s and her enjoyment. In her youth she sang in the Tara Presbyterian Church choir and took an active role as the Music Director in the Millbank United Church. Beth was an integral part of her Millbank Band that entertained at many retirement homes in the area. She also recorded a CD with her sons, Jim and John, when she was in her 80’s.
We wish to express our deepest gratitude to the staff at Knollcrest Lodge for the excellent care provided for Mom. It was deeply appreciated by the Newman Family.
A celebration of Beth’s life will be held at the Perth East Rec Complex, Milverton on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. with words of remembrance at 2:30 p.m. Interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Tara.
Memorial donations to Knollcrest Lodge Residents Council or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated, and may be made through the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.
