John Langendoen passed away on April 1st, 2025 in his 97th year.
John was predeceased by his first wife, Symie Brand. Symie was the mother of Robert & Jenny Langendoen, Linda & Peter Dykstra, Harold & Tammy Langendoen and Wendy Ward. John was predeceased by son-in-law Neil Ward and grandson Jonny Langendoen. He is survived by his second wife, Gretha Van Winkelhoff who is the mother of Sharon & Keith Klaassen, Brian & Sandy Langendoen and Ciska Langendoen. John was grandpa/opa to eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
When John was asked about having two wives, he simply said that “God gave him two women to love.” John emigrated to Canada in 1951 with our mom Symie. Up until his death, dad put his whole heart and soul into everything he did. From farming to working at Wheaton Glass to the mission work he did with Gretha for Northern Canada Evangelical Missions; dad was an example to all of us. Dad did not talk much, but once he did say anything, you knew he had thought long and hard about it. Dad put the Lord first in EVERYTHING he did!
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Caressant Care in Listowel for their care and support for dad and mom. A huge thank you also goes to the family at Gorrie Bible Fellowship for all the visits that were made to dad and mom.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 5th, 2025 at the Gorrie Bible Fellowship at 11:00 a.m. The funeral will be live-streamed and available on the funeral home website. Interment will take place at Fordwich Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to World Vision or Northern Canada Evangelical Mission (NCEM) would be appreciated by the family.
