With profound sadness, his family regret to announce the passing of Stephen John Matthew Bitton on December 6th, 2024.
With his family at his side, he died at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Steve is predeceased by his grandparents Cleveland Matthew “Bud” & Mary Winnifred Bitton and John Joseph & Bronislawa Sidorko.
Steve is survived by his wife, Yvonne Rosehart, and his three children, Gavin 17, Reid 14, and Wyatt 11; as well as his parents, Steve & Anna Bitton of Listowel, siblings Michael (Pauline) Bitton, Amanda Kaye, Angelica (David) Francoeur; sister-in-law Kimberly (Terry) Rosehart and Yvonne’s parents, Diane & Terry Rosehart. Uncle Bo will never be forgotten by Ethan, Noah, Quinn, Simon, Tessa, Edison, Evelynne, and Olivier.
Steve’s formative years were spent in Listowel as he attended Listowel Eastdale School, Listowel Central School, and L.D.S.S. After graduating with honours and as class valedictorian, he went on to attend Queen’s University, Kingston in the engineering programme. While at Queen’s, he met Yvonne, the love of his life. After graduation, the two were married and began their working adventures around the world. Eventually they settled in Ottawa, Steve as an electrical engineer and Yvonne as a government health consultant. They went on to raise their family and commit to the Ottawa community. Steve served on the Ottawa Environmental Commission and was active as a soccer and hockey coach.
A kind, sympathetic, patient and loyal friend, Steve’s greatest joys were found in quiet morning walks with Yvonne, hours at the hockey rink, sunny days at the beach, as well as any and all family get togethers.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Tubman Funeral Homes – Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean ON, K2H 8H7. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
