John Hengeveld, of St. Marys and formerly of Brussels and Stratford, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on February 19, 2024.
John is survived by his wife of 41 years, Maureen; children Jeremy, Stacey (Scott) and Katelyn and his favourite people in the world, grandsons Elliott and Henry.
He is also survived by siblings Gerry (Brenda), Harry (Sally), Ina, Wilfred (Carmen), Ruby, sister-in-law Judy (Shawn), mother-in-law Sheila Cochrane and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents William and Janna (Sien) Hengeveld, father-in-law, Robert Cochrane and sisters Irene and Wendy.
John lived his life exactly as he envisioned. His love of animals and sense of humour were apparent throughout his life. His dream of a hobby farm came to life as a successful business raising alpacas. After 30 years at UPS, he warned us that he was coming back as a porch pirate!
A private family funeral service will be held. A public celebration of life will take place at the Pyramid Recreation Centre, 317 James Street South, St Marys in the 2/3 room on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 1:30-4:30. Entrance is located off Lindsay Atkinson Drive either directly to the Community room, or through Entrance B.
