LISTOWEL – September means back to school for many, but the change in the calendar also means the return of United Way Perth-Huron (UWPH)’s annual campaign. To celebrate, the organization is kicking off in style in Listowel on Friday, Sept. 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot at Ward & Uptigrove.
“We’re very happy to be back and launching our 2023-24 campaign,” said Lee-Anne Andriessen, North Perth Community Committee chair. “We’ll be sharing how UWPH positively impacts the lives of vulnerable people in North Perth and announcing this year’s fundraising goal.
“Of course, a kickoff wouldn’t be complete without lots of fun, so we hope people join us for this afternoon of celebration.”
UWPH’s North Perth campaign kickoff features a variety of food and fun for everyone. For the first time in North Perth kickoff history, UWPH will be hosting a ‘Gameathlon.’ Participants will take part in three games – golf putt accuracy, best Yahtzee score and timed Sudoku. The person who accumulates the most points based on game results – along with pledges from supporters – will take home the title of ‘Gameathlon Master.’ Everyone is invited to enter or stop by and cheer on your friends and neighbours as they compete. Funds raised go toward UWPH’s 100 per cent local work in North Perth. Gameathlon entry fee is $50.
In addition to the Gameathlon, UWPH’s North Perth kickoff will feature a lunch courtesy of The Wild Boar and BeaverTails food trucks. There will also be a silent auction with a variety of items to bid on, along with a vendor market to browse and shop.
