Aug. 5 incident in Brussels results in multiple charges against Huron East man

BRUSSELS – Police have laid several charges against a Huron East man following an incident on Turnberry Street in Brussels on Aug. 5.

Members of the Huron County OPP, West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit and West Regional Emergency Response Team responded to an address on Turnberry Street that afternoon. A portion of the street was closed for safety reasons.

Police say the man was arrested at 2:46 p.m. following an investigation.

The accused, a 44-year-old man from Huron East, has been charged with:

  • possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • uttering threats – damage or injure animal;
  • imitation firearm – use while committing offence; and
  • possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order.

The accused was brought before the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich and was remanded into custody.
