South Bruce rebranding ‘unwise and premature’

To the editor,

South Bruce council’s decision to rebrand the municipality at this time is both unwise and premature.

The rationale to so, other than funding opportunities, has yet to be explained fully to this community. Council should revisit the issue and seek full input from those of us who live here and call it home. There is probably no better time to do so when many former residents return by the thousands for Mildmay’s Homecoming.

In addition, any money spent at this time on a new brand is essentially a fool’s errand if it does not take in the fact that South Bruce will soon be selected for Canada’s home for all of the nuclear industry’s most toxic waste – a potentially negative and stigmatizing image that with proactive branding now, not 10 years from now, could be avoided.
