Driver charged after hitting young cyclist in Walkerton

WALKERTON – A 19-year-old driver is facing multiple charges following a collision between a passenger van and a young cyclist earlier this week.

South Bruce OPP received a report about the collision, which took place along Durham Street in Walkerton, on July 4 just before 7:30 p.m.

Police, along with members of the Walkerton Fire Department and Bruce County EMS, responded.

Minor injuries were reported at the scene.

The driver, a 19-year-old from Mexico, has been charged with careless driving, fail to yield, and driving without a license.

The accused will appear in court to answer to the charges at a later date.
