PALMERSTON – The Huron Perth District Women’s Institute recently held its 19th annual meeting at the James Street United Church, Palmerston.
Thirty-six members and two guests attended the meeting.
The meeting began with the singing of O Canada, followed by the business portion of the event.
Margaret McInroy provided a report on the highlights of the District Annual 2022, and Gwen Catherwood and Margaret McMahon provided the financial examiners report. COVID-19 essay winner Kathy Bridge presented her essay, following by President Barb Grube’s remarks.
Also featured in the morning was a report from Western Regional Board Director Pauline Weiland, who welcome the new member from Brussels. Reports from Darlene Harding (rose coordinator), Ruth Axtmann (advocacy) and McInroy (Tweesdmuir report) were also heard.
To end the morning session, an information presentation from Krystal Layh of Krystal Clear Healing was taken in by the group.
The afternoon session opened with the hymn of all nations, and a presentation from COVID-19 essay winner Marie McCutcheon. Following roll call, the election and installment of officers took place.
The afternoon session also featured a silent auction, mystery auction and bakeless bake sale, which was described by many as fantastic. This portion of the event raised $970.
