Mildmay couple win $100K in Lotto Max draw

TORONTO – Saying “yes” to ENCORE paid off for Mary and Terry Borth of Mildmay.

The Borths matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the May 30 Lotto Max draw to win $100,000.

Mary, 58 and Terry, 56 said they’re regular lottery players.

“I’ve been saying that I was going to win for 30 years,” shared Mary. “It turns out I was right!”

After work Terry checked the winning numbers on OLG.ca and discovered they won big.

“Mary heard me shouting from the office,” he recounted, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their windfall.

After scanning their ticket on the OLG App, the couple hugged each other, and Mary screamed with delight.

“I was teary-eyed and full of joy,” said Terry. “My face became flushed and I kept saying, ‘We did it!’”

Despite their initial excitement, the pair thought their win was too good to be true. They decided to validate their ticket at the store to be sure it was real.

“As we were leaving the house, our dogs were acting funny,” recalled Terry. “I think they picked up on our vibe!”

The pair told their kids about their win and before long, the news spread throughout town!

“Everybody is so happy for us,” they smiled.

With their winnings, they want to help their family, spoil their dogs, and contribute to local charities.

“Most of all, we hope to share the win,” they said.

The couple will also manage their finances, complete some home renovations, and save for their future.

“Maybe we’ll go on vacation to Jamaica. This win provides some breathing space,” they concluded.

The winning ticket was purchased at Mac’s on Elora Street in Mildmay.
