Wescast Industries, via a memo sent to staff on May 30, are refuting claims by Unifor that the Wingham foundry will be closing permanently. The memo states Wescast intends “to do an extensive evaluation on the facility to determine what would be necessary to bring the Wescast Castings facilities… back to being world class facilities.” This would require a temporary closure of six to eight months.
