BRUCE COUNTY – Bruce County’s fire chiefs have lifted the county-wide total fire ban that was put in place on June 8.
However, some areas of Bruce County remain under a restricted fire zone as per a June 9 provincial order. These areas include Northern Bruce Peninsula, Neyaashiinigmiing and South Bruce Peninsula.
As of noon today (June 12), these regions will enforce fire bans on all open-air activities, except for campfires in organized campgrounds.
During this fire ban, the following activities are prohibited:
- campfires and recreational fires, except those taking place in organized campgrounds;
- open-air burning of any kind, including brush clearing, burn barrels, chimineas, and fire pits;
- consumer fireworks displays or the use of pyrotechnic devices;
- use of outdoor fire appliances, such as fireplaces, wood-burning stoves, and outdoor ovens; and
- all fire permits are immediately suspended.
