BRUCE COUNTY – Bruce County supports the inclusion of children from low-income families in the participation of extra-curricular activities, school nutrition programs, and cultural and skill building activities through the Child Activity Assistance Program (CAAP).
On April 6, Bruce County council approved to enhance the CAAP with an increase to the eligible income threshold and the annual assistance allotment, giving even more children the opportunity to participate.
The Child Activity Assistance Program (CAAP) is a fund available for families with a gross income of less than $49,466 (threshold increased from $30,000). The fund assists families with the cost of activities such as school trips, school nutrition programs, extra-curricular activities, arts and cultural programs, Scouts/Embers, etc. This subsidy is available for dependent children, living at home, who are under the age of 18. The maximum CAAP funding is $500 per year, per child (increased from $300).
To be eligible, you must be a Canadian citizen and a resident of Bruce County. You must also provide verification of your gross income. Bruce County’s human services staff are available to help guide families through the subsidy process.
