Bross resigns from South Bruce council

SOUTH BRUCE – Audrey Bross has vacated her seat as South Bruce councillor in the Mildmay-Carrick Ward.

Bross sent her resignation letter to Mayor Mark Goetz and council on Feb. 2, and it was formally received during the Feb. 7 special council meeting.

“I’ve come to the conclusion that I am not able to make the community contribution that I wanted to while on council,” wrote Bross in her five-paragraph resignation letter. “I need to look out for what’s best for myself and my family.

“I am grateful for the learning opportunities that I have received during my time on council.”

Bross was acclaimed to one of the two Mildmay-Carrick Ward seats in the October 2022 municipal election.

“For the short period of time Audrey was with us, I felt she (made) a large contribution to the municipality in different respects. She had assisted us in some of the hiring of different committees and offered excellent input into the day-to-day operations of the municipality,” said Goetz at the Feb. 7 meeting. “That will be missed. It’s unfortunate but we will respect the Audrey’s decision in this matter.”

Staff have been instructed by council to bring a report to the next regular council meeting on Feb. 14 outlining options available to fill the vacant council seat.
