The Walkerton Capitals U13 OWHL squad had a successful weekend at the 43rd annual Sweetheart Tournament in Orangeville, skating away with the gold medal. The team opened the tournament on Jan. 27 with a 7-0 win over North York and a 3-2 win over Owen Sound. In the semifinal on Jan. 28, the Caps doubled up on the host Orangeville Tigers with a 4-2 win. In the final on Jan. 29, Walkerton took on Owen Sound, winning a hard-fought 2-1 game to win the championship. Players on the team are: Tessa Kuntz, Brooklyn Rhody, Casey Dupuis, Aurora Dale, Faith Hinsperger, Regan Barrett, Quinn McLeod, Myra Filsinger, Ava Batte, Madison Hammell, Garyn Abell, Madi Johns, Brynlie Wilcox and Macy Coleman. The coaching staff consists of: Coach Mark Dupuis, assistants Steve Barrett, Mat Coleman and Tyler Kuntz, and trainer Karin Farrow.
