News from the Walkerton Library

WALKERTON – Take your chances on a literary ‘blind date’ during the month of February.

Check out materials from our displays and enter a draw for a chocolate treat. We’d love to hear how your date went: share your comments about your ‘blind date’ book on your ballot. All ballots must be returned by Feb. 28. You never know, you may fall in love with a new author or genre!

Cricuts in the Library! Book time to cut your next project using your own device or laptop and supplies (or use the library’s). New to Cricut? Check out the training module in ‘Show Me How’ on our website. Staff will help guide you through the steps once your training is complete. Contact the Cargill branch to book your time slot before Feb. 17.

Interested in learning about 3D printers? Stop by our informal sessions and learn all about how these machines operate.  Drop-in 3D printer info sessions are being held at the Walkerton Library on Thursday, Feb. 2 from 6-7:30 p.m., and Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 2:30-4 p.m.

Come to our Valentines for Seniors program or stop by the library any day to either pick up a package or create a Valentine for a local senior. Return your Valentine to the library by Friday, Feb. 10, and library staff will deliver to local senior residents.

Book a one-to-one Tech Coach session or drop in for assistance using our Library eResources. These sessions run in Cargill every Friday.

Join us for Story Time, where we will help you build early literacy skills with your child by reading, talking, singing, and playing together. Story Time is each Wednesday in Walkerton at 11 a.m., ages 0-4.

Shake off the school day at the library! Join us for games, activities and more at Tween Club – Walkerton, alternate Thursdays, 4 p.m. for ages 9-13.

Little Counters is an early math literacy program offered in partnership with EarlyON for preschool ages 2-4 where they will explore early number recognition and math skills. This program runs in Walkerton on Fridays, Feb. 3-24, at 11 a.m. in the gallery room at the library. Registration is required.

Did you miss it at the theatre? Come watch Death on the Nile starring Kenneth Branagh and Annette Bening at the Walkerton Library on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m.

Calling all kids! Materials are set out and waiting for you to get creative!  Kids Create at Cargill, Tuesday, Feb. 14 and 28 at 4:30 p.m.; Walkerton, Tuesday, Feb. 7 to 11, drop in during branch hours.

This month at Adult Connect and Create, we will be making rolled paper beads that will be used to create bracelets, necklaces, or other decorative items. All materials provided. Registration appreciated. This program runs in Walkerton on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m.
