WINGHAM – The Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) is hosting a career fair for support staff in Wingham next month.
These career fairs will have an information booth set up to educate prospective employees about a variety of support staff positions that the board is currently recruiting for, including custodians, secretaries (school office and other), educational assistants, early childhood educators, and technical resource assistants.
The career fair in Wingham is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 1 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at F.E. Madill Secondary School (231 Madill Dr., Wingham).
Some of the positions are 10-month contracts (i.e. have summers off) and others work throughout the year. The board offers competitive salaries, benefits and other incentives.
Officials are encouraging job seekers to stop by and discuss how their skills might fit these roles, or how they might be able to fill emergency support staff positions. AMDSB staff will be available to answer questions.
Staff from the Centres for Employment and Learning (CELs) will also be available to provide information about their services. The CELs offer free, professional employment support, such as assistance with resumes, cover letters, online applications, interview prep, and career decision-making, or they can help you explore educational and skills upgrading options. These might include completing your High School Diploma, upgrading High School courses, getting your GED, or enrolling in free in-person and/or online literacy and basic skills programs.
