New Millennium Quilters Guild presents donation to Saugeen Hospice

MILDMAY – The New Millennium Quilters Guild held a very successful quilt show in May 2022.

Net proceeds from the Toonie Table, the sale of Sheila O’Hagan’s Anniversary Star Quilt Pattern and donations received for excess items from the library committee were designated to be given to the Saugeen Hospice Inc.

At a recent guild meeting, co-chairs of the quilt show, Helen Gutscher and Cheryl Russwurm, presented $1,600 to Kelly Fotheringham, chair of Saugeen Hospice Inc. Fotheringham gave a short update on the Hospice project.

At the same meeting, the quilt show co- chairs presented a gift of appreciation in the form of a lap quilt to Dale Smart, of Dalcor Security, Durham. Dalcor provided security at a reasonable rate as they recognized the community outreach the guild does. Each year the guild donates between 40 to 60 lap quilts to those suffering losses due to fire and those faced with health challenges, and also provides children’s quilts for fundraising projects of the Walkerton Optimist Club.
