BIOGRAPHY
I am Stacey Boyd and Wingham has been my home base for the past 13 years. I was raised on a dairy operation in Huron County, and then resided in the Listowel and Atwood area before locating here. My favourite past times includes all things outdoors, especially snowmobiling, golf, and gardening. These past times are shared with my partner Andy Williams, whom many may know from Stainton’s Home Hardware.
This is my first involvement running as a candidate in municipal government, and if elected I look forward to serving our municipality well. My diverse work experiences range in positions from customer service to administrative, and from management to ownership. For 10 years I co-owned and operated a trucking business, and when I moved to Wingham I joined Libro Credit Union. My current employment is with Euro-Parts Canada, where I am their resource manager since 2015. During my full-time employment here, I also studied with Fanshawe College and obtained my Certificate in Human Resources Management.
I have 25-plus years of volunteer board experience, holding positions as director, secretary, treasurer, and chairperson with local, district and provincial snowmobile organizations and with the Wingham Golf and Curling Club. I have a passion for community betterment and have volunteered locally with the BIA as well take part on a team for the Wingham Legion Wing Nights.
I love being involved in my community and helping it shine by taking an active role in it.
BIGGEST ISSUE
Currently I feel that the largest issue North Huron will face over the next while is the numerous residual effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The first being, sorting through the backlog of infrastructure projects, where the organizations completing them are struggling to find qualified workers and are experiencing disruptions in obtaining the product required to complete such. Secondly, getting our own municipal office and recreation facilities back up and operating to pre-pandemic operations and staffed adequately with qualified people. Third point to this, is assisting our local businesses to recover after many were forced to close for lengthy periods of time and helping them find a suitable workforce. And fourthly, supporting our local service clubs and organizations to bring back and host the events that draw out our residents and bring visitors to our area.
If elected, I look forward to the opportunity to serve the residents of North Huron. I will work with council and staff, and we will navigate through this issue and others that arise to encourage future growth and sustainability.
