WINGHAM – The 10th annual Great Hospital Race, a mini Amazing Race-style fundraiser, was held on Saturday, Oct. 1 and raised $15,000 to help fund cardiac monitor upgrades at the Wingham and District Hospital.
The event has been hosted by the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation for the past 10 years in conjunction with the longstanding CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon. Both events support the Foundation’s goal of raising funds for important medical equipment.
The Great Hospital Race has teams of two race on foot around Wingham to complete five challenges. Challenges are sporty, messy, puzzles, and just plain goofy. This year challenges included a lock cracking puzzle, a blind taste test, a song writing challenge, skee ball, and a balloon obstacle course.
The first-place team was Tyler Jutzi and Scott Dolmage of The Burgs, second place was Caitlin and Ryan Fergusson of Team Ferg, and third place was Brad Robinson and Ryan Finch of Shake and Bake.
The Foundation thanks all the volunteers for hosting the challenges, the racers for collecting such generous pledges and the corporate sponsors for making the event possible.
Further contributions towards the cardiac monitor upgrade project can be made during the CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon on Saturday, Oct. 15. Visit www.wdhfoundation.ca or www.cknx.ca for more information.
