CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon hits airwaves Oct. 15

MIDWESTERN ONTARIO – Having access to quality health care is especially important in rural areas. On Saturday, Oct. 15, CKNX AM920 will be hosting the 21st annual CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon to help raise funds for eight area hospital foundations, including Listowel, Palmerston and Wingham.

Listen to the broadcast all day on AM920 and cknx.ca, or catch updates on the hour on 101.7 The One and Cool 94.5. Listeners will hear heartwarming patient stories and descriptions of equipment needed at each participating hospital.

The Listowel Memorial Hospital Foundation aims to raise $70,000 towards two colonoscopes for surgical services. The Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation aims to raise $125,000 for two colonoscopes and one gastroscope for surgical services. The Wingham and District Hospital Foundation aims to raise $80,000 for cardiac monitor upgrades.

Support towards this goal may be made by mail, dropping into your local foundation’s or by phone. On Oct. 15, you can phone in your pledge during the broadcast by calling toll free 1-877-227-3486, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You can also donate via text message until Oct. 31. To donate via text, text HERO plus the town (i.e. HERO LISTOWEL) to 41010 to donate $10.

Listowel event

The Listowel Memorial Hospital Foundation is hosting an event at Knox Presbyterian Church Hall on Oct. 15. Drop into Knox from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to enjoy some entertainment, a food booth and bake sale by the LMH Auxiliary. Donations towards the Radiothon project for the Listowel Memorial Hospital Foundation will be accepted at the event.
