Disqualified driver charged following traffic complaint

PERTH EAST – The Perth County OPP has charged a 35-year-old male following a traffic complaint on Perth Road 131 in the Township of Perth East.

On Aug. 9 at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Line 47 in Perth East.

The investigation determined that the male driver was a disqualified driver resulting from previous Criminal Code driving convictions. He was prohibited from operating any motorized vehicle on a roadway.

As a result, Jason Burchiel, 35, of Ridgetown, has been charged with: Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code (three counts), possession of a Schedule I substance  – methamphetamine, and fail to comply with probation order.

A 45-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
