The cumulative effort of local farmers, businesses and private donators came through for the second straight year for area elementary school milk programs on June 22. Maplevue Farms hosted a World Milk Day event on June 1 in conjunction with The Ranch 100.1FM, promoting the importance and necessity of dairy diets for growing children. New Morning Holsteins from the Monkton area donated a Holstein calf to the initiative, which was won by Listowel’s Wayne Hamilton; he in turn donated the calf for auction, which was conducted by David Carson Farms and Auction Services Ltd. Following three re-donations, the calf sale garnered $4,750 for the cause.
