HURON COUNTY – Behind the Bars is making its return to the Huron Historic Gaol this summer and the Gaol is currently seeking volunteers to help portray former inmates for this popular event.
Behind the Bars is an immersive tour experience that gives visitors the opportunity to learn more about life at the Gaol between 1841 and 1911. Volunteers will step back in time to portray real life inmates and staff from the gaol’s past, sharing highlights of their characters’ stories with visitors.
“Our volunteers help us create a captivating and educational experience for visitors, giving them a firsthand look into the experiences of those who lived and worked at this National Historic Site,” said Kyra Lewis, Behind the Bars coordinator.
Volunteers must be ages 12 and older.
Behind the Bars tours run every Tuesday and Thursday evening through July and August starting July 12.
