WALKERTON – On Friday, June 10, 350 children from Walkerton District Community School were jumping for joy as they took part in Jump Rope for Heart’s 40th birthday celebration.
Students had set a fundraising goal of $2,000 to support Heart & Stroke in its goal to protect children’s health and beat heart disease and stroke. WDCS crushed its goal and raised $3,950 in donations.
For 40 years, Jump Rope for Heart has been getting kids active and teaching them the importance of physical activity and healthy eating.
“Teaching kids how to stay healthy and how to do that while having fun is more important than ever. That’s why we decided to follow Heart & Stroke’s lead and to take a leap for Jump,” said WDCS teacher Adrianna Wilson.
WDCS has been participating in Jump Rope for Heart for 10 years. Thank you to everyone who supported an individual participant or donated to the school’s overall fundraising efforts.
