SAUGEEN – Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority is in the midst of its 72nd year of tree planting on Saugeen Conservation land and private land, with the support of Bruce Power, Forest Ontario’s 50 Million Tree Program, and landowners.
Over 5.8 million tree have been planted by Saugeen Conservation. Thanks to this essential program, open land is being turned into forest.
Throughout the month of May, seedling plantings have been completed on marginal farm fields, repairing plantings, riparian farm fields, windbreaks and future forests.
2022 seedling orders have sold out, marking another year of commitment to protecting wildlife, preserving the watershed and creating ecosystems for future generations to enjoy.
Landowners in the Saugeen watershed can work with Saugeen Conservation’s experienced forestry staff to develop a site plan for a tree planting project on their property.
Saugeen Conservation offers hand and machine planting services to turn land into a forest ecosystem in no time.
Funding may be available to reduce the burden on the landowner. The planting application is available on the Saugeen Conservation website.
