MILVERTON – A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program resulted in a driver being recently charged with impaired driving in the Township of Perth East.
On Oct. 2 just before 2 a.m., a motor vehicle entered a R.I.D.E program conducted by Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on Mill Street East in Milverton. An approved screening device was utilized and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to a local OPP detachment where further tests were administered.
As a result, Adam Ropp, 29, of Perth East, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
A 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute to the accused, who was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.
