WALKERTON – The past 18 months have served to remind us just how important it is to have access to quality health care.
On Saturday, Oct. 16, CKNX AM920 will be hosting the 20th annual CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon to help raise funds for 12 area hospital foundations, including the Walkerton and District Hospital Foundation.
The radiothon will be broadcast all day on AM920 and cknx.ca, with updates airing on 101.7 The One and Cool 94.5 on the hour. Organizers say listeners “will hear heartwarming patient stories and descriptions of equipment needed at each participating hospital.”
The Walkerton and District Hospital Foundation aims to raise $30,000.
“The assets from this campaign will be used to fund for a new mammography machine for the Walkerton Hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging Department,” said Hayley Wilhelm, executive director of the Walkerton and District Hospital Foundation.
Those interested in supporting the Walkerton initiative can text ‘HERO WALKERTON’ to 45678 throughout October to donate $10, send a donation into the Walkerton and District Hospital Foundation office (21 McGivern Street, Box 1300, Walkerton, Ontario, N0G 2V0), or they can tune into AM 920 on Oct. 16 for the Foundation’s live event.
People can also support by participating in some of the Foundation’s other radiothon events, like the ‘Toonie at the Till’ with Kaufman’s Independent Grocer on Oct. 16, or the ‘Likes for Radiothon’ initiative with Brown’s Guardian Pharmacy on the Foundation’s Facebook page from Oct. 13-16.
“We want to thank our wonderful community for the support they have shown us in past Radiothon events, and we hope to see the same great support once again this year,” said Wilhelm.
