LISTOWEL – A Huron East resident is facing multiple charges following an incident earlier this month on Main Street in Listowel.
On Aug. 10, just after 9 a.m., Perth County OPP was called to investigate a suspicious person parked near a business on Main Street. Police arrived and found a vehicle parked in the parking lot, with an occupant who appeared to be sleeping in the driver’s seat.
Police spoke to the occupant, who they say was showing signs of impairment. The individual was arrested and taken to a local OPP station for further testing.
The accused, 30-year-old Steven Kuepfer of Huron East, has been charged with:
operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs; and
possession of a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine.
A 90-day driving suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment were initiated as per statute.
Kuepfer was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
