Vintage snowmobile show set for Jan. 30

HOWICK – The Huron County Cruisers are hosting a Vintage Snowmobile Show at the Howick Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 30.

They invite you to register starting at 9:30 a.m. and stay for the day to check out the vendors, swap a few items, join the ride if snow conditions allow, and enjoy the chicken wings offered up for sale by the Howick Optimist Club.

Two hours of ice time will be set aside for free skating with free hot dogs and chocolate milk being handed out to the kids in attendance.

When you check out the history of snowmobiles, you will find they were created to fulfill a great need for a safe and effective way of rescuing people in snow covered regions, for transporting goods and services to remote areas, and for fun. Over the years, the social aspect of snowmobiling has developed with local clubs and members travelling hours on developed trails stopping for sightseeing, dining, and camaraderie. Some snowmobiles were designed to be sleek and powerful machines used for racing. Whatever the reason, colour, or design, you will be sure to find some interesting snowmobiles and owners at the show.
