Senior nabbed for stunt driving

ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH – An 89-year-old Kitchener resident has been charged with stunt driving following a traffic stop in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh earlier this month.

According to a release from Huron County OPP, an officer was patrolling the area of Nile Road near Sharpe’s Creek Line on Nov. 13 around 2:36 p.m. when an eastbound hatchback sped by. Police say a radar device measured the vehicle travelling over 130 km/h in the posted 80 km/h zone.

Police conducted a traffic stop and charged the driver.

The accused, 89-year-old Paul Georgiou from Kitchener, has been charged with drive motor vehicle perform a stunt – speeding by 50 or more km/h.

Georgiou is scheduled to appear in Goderich court on Jan. 4, 2022 to answer to the charge.
