Police recover stolen vehicle in Chesley

CHESLEY – Two individuals are facing charges after South Bruce OPP recovered a stolen vehicle in Chesley.

South Bruce OPP say on Jan. 12 at 4:24 a.m., an officer on patrol in Chesley signalled a pick-up truck to stop using the police cruiser emergency lighting. According to a media release, the vehicle continued driving through town before coming to a stop along 5th Avenue Southwest.

It was determined by police that the pick-up truck had been reported stolen.

Police say the occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody without incident.

Charged are Dearl Vessie, 31, of West Grey and Jessica Jonker, 34, of Chatsworth.

Vessie is charged with driving while prohibited, flight from police, two counts of possessing stolen property, obstruct peace officer, and two counts of fail to comply with release order.

Jonker is charged with two counts of possessing proceeds of crime, and obstruct peace officer.

Both of the accused were held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing on Jan. 12.
