Thank you for your article stressing the importance and urgency of saving the bees in Ontario. I am an organic gardener, living near Erin. I grow over 100 varieties of Heirloom Annuals each year to attract bees and butterflies to my garden. My neighbour like Jin Coneybeare is a beekeeper and each Spring I look forward to seeing them work their magic in my garden. Usually there are so many bees you can see the plants moving. That all changed this Spring, the very day that corn was being planted in the field across from our property, I began to find dead bees in the garden, hundreds of them.
There can be no doubt that neonicotinoids are killing our bees. We must ban it now before it is too late. Albert Einstein said ” If the bees disappeared off the face of the earth, man would only have four years to live”. Please make your voice heard in this urgent matter and sign the Ontario Bee Keepers online petition. There is power in numbers and together we can all make a difference.
