Jubilee Acres corn crop looks promising

BRUCE COUNTY – Once again this year, we are grateful to have a bountiful crop of corn to help feed the hungry.

The Jubilee Acres Growing Project is located at Greenock. It is but one of over 200 growing projects in Canada this year from coast to coast supported by the 15 Christian church groups across the nation.

We at Jubilee Acres wish to thank all who have supported us over the last 23 years, enabling us to raise over $3.5 million to help end hunger.

Crops, fundraisers from special events, government support and donations from the whole community, from school children to seniors, have contributed to this endeavour over the years. The special fundraiser this year involves the sale of firewood.

In this pandemic year, we see a need for many reasons including weather problems, droughts, floods, poor health, labour shortages, transportation issues and supply chain delays. It is sometimes discouraging to see the difficult situations Canadian Foodgrains Bank is addressing, but a report like this one from a mother of 10 in Kenya speaks eloquently: “This ARDA (Agricultural and Rural Development Authority) project of the Foodgrains sharing program has been our saving grace – I do not know where we would be without it in this pandemic.”

In 2021, Foodgrains has helped 989,000 people with food assistance. Help us to continue this good work through the Canadian Foodgrains Bank by a donation to Jubilee Acres at P.O. Box 1403, Walkerton, N0G 2V0. You can also participate in the special firewood sale this year by calling 519-881-3456.

For any information, questions or suggestions to increase our efforts to help end hunger, contact us at the above phone number or mailing address. Thanks from the board of directors!
