Famed Listowel musician returns for July 26 concert

LISTOWEL – Sarah Pratt-Parsamian makes her return to Listowel for the Summer Concert, brought to the community by the Listowel Business Improvement Area (BIA). On July 26 at 7 p.m., the concert will be staged at the Listowel Memorial Park Amphitheatre and is free, though donations are accepted.

Pratt-Parsamian is from Listowel, according to the BIA’s profile on her, though is based in New York City. An acclaimed violinist, she is a member of the New York City Opera Orchestra and has been since 2006. With a long cv, including featuring on the soundtrack to the acclaimed 2019 film Joker, she is a prizewinning musician.

After changing the date from August to July, if there is any sign of precipitation the concert will be pushed to the next day.

Donations from this year’s Summer Concert will go to the Listowel District Secondary School (LDSS) music program in honour of Laurence Rowbotham, who taught Pratt-Parasamian while she was at LDSS.  Donations will assist in several ways including: new instruments such as guitars, ukuleles, indigenous instruments, guest makers/musicians, music resources, recording equipment, supplies and resources and experiences for students.

Pratt-Parsamian is also returning Aug. 6-14 for the Music on the Bruce classical music festival on the Bruce Peninsula.

The Summer Concert will feature the music of Biber, Bach, Enesco, Ysaye, and Mark O’Connor.
