Citizen stops theft in progress near Gowanstown

Perth County OPP looking for suspect

GOWANSTOWN – Thanks to an observant citizen, police say a theft was stopped in progress earlier this morning near Gowanstown.

Just before 2:30 a.m., police received a report of a suspicious vehicle at a business on Perth Road 164. According to police, the suspect entered the fenced property in a vehicle and was in the process of stealing a trailer and heavy equipment.

When police arrived, the suspect fled on foot.

Police describe the suspect as male wearing all black.

The OPP are attempting to determine if the vehicle involved was stolen.
